Why is my pool green?

A: A green pool is an indication that there is a lack of chlorine or sanitizer in your water which could be caused by a number of different things including no chlorine, the filter needs cleaning or is old and needs replacing or the chlorinator has stopped working.

Shoreline Pool Supplies provide a Green Pool Treatment service where we not only fix the water quality to make it safe and clean to swim in again, but we also investigate the underlying cause of the problem by inspecting and repairing any broken equipment that is causing the issue. Alternatively, you can bring a sample of the water into our pool shop and we’ll run a free test for you and tell you which chemicals need to be added to fix the problem.

What is the difference between a cartridge filter and a sand filter?

A: Both filters achieve the same goal but in a completely different manner; a cartridge filter can filter down to 5 microns where as a sand filter usually filters 9-12 microns, however the lifespan of a sand filter can be 10+ years while cartridge filters will need to be replaced every 2-3 years. Cartridge filters also require more maintenance than a sand filter will require.
